Patna: Former minister and MLA Tej Pratap Yadav on Sunday criticised the local representative of Maner for allegedly failing to engage with the public following the rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl. Speaking without naming him directly, Tej Pratap said the MLA had not visited the victim’s family or offered support.
Tej Pratap arrived in Maner late on Sunday evening to meet the bereaved family, offering condolences and financial assistance. He paid tribute to the girl by garlanding her photograph and gathered details of the crime from the family, who alleged that other suspects had not yet been arrested.
“The victim’s family is very poor,” Tej Pratap said, urging the government to provide assistance. He also called for the death penalty for the perpetrators of the crime, emphasising the need for justice at the site where the girl died.
He further accused the administration of inaction, highlighting the ongoing issues of rape and murder across Bihar. “Murders and rapes are happening every day, but the administration is sitting idle,” he said.
Without naming the MLA, he added: “The MLA here has not come yet. He is an idiot who has not even asked about the people who made him win. He is not helping.” Tej Pratap has previously criticised the local MLA and, in a separate instance, the RSS and BJP for their alleged role in fomenting unrest in the area.
