Patna: The weakening monsoon has left most parts of Bihar dry, exposing residents to sweltering heat and humidity. The Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for light rain in six districts on Tuesday, while the rest of the state will continue to see dry weather.
Lightning Strike Claims Three Lives in Kaimur
In Kaimur district, three women lost their lives after being struck by lightning on Monday morning. Four others sustained serious burn injuries while working in the fields. The injured women were rushed to a local hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Flood Waters Submerge Villages in Munger
Meanwhile, rising water levels in the Ganga have triggered flooding in six blocks of Munger district, affecting more than 20 villages. Sadar Munger and Bariyarpur are among the worst-hit areas. The river is currently flowing just six centimeters below the danger mark. Floodwaters have entered urban localities, including Kashtharani Ghat and Chandika Sthan, disrupting normal life.
No Rain Expected Until September 10
The Meteorological Center has predicted that dry weather will continue across the state until September 10. Residents can expect hot days with maximum temperatures remaining above normal, while high humidity will add to the discomfort. However, officials said conditions are likely to change after September 10, when heavy rainfall is expected in several regions, bringing some relief.
Deficit Rainfall Hits Farmers Hard
Bihar has recorded a 29 percent rainfall deficit since June. Against the expected 782 mm, the state has received only 554 mm so far. This shortfall has severely affected paddy plantation and the sowing of other Kharif crops, leaving farmers anxious for timely rains.

The capital Patna witnessed bright sunshine on Tuesday morning. The maximum temperature has been recorded between 34–36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum ranges between 26–27 degrees Celsius. With humidity levels remaining high, residents are struggling with discomfort both during the day and at night.
