Bihar: Seven transgenders booked for harassing passengers in train
Buxar: In a significant move against extortion during train journeys, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted a special operation on Tuesday, apprehending seven transgender individuals for coercion and presenting them to the Railway Magistrate for prosecution.
Following persistent complaints, Railway Protection Force (RPF) Post Inspector Deepak Kumar revealed that there had been numerous reports of passengers being forcibly charged by transgender individuals while travelling by train. Additionally, there were complaints of inappropriate behaviour towards male passengers in the presence of female travellers.
In light of this information, a special team was formed on Tuesday, conducting raids simultaneously on several trains. During this operation, seven transgender individuals who were coercing passengers into making payments were apprehended.
Issuing a warning to all, they were brought to the RPF post and advised to seek alternative employment or take advantage of government schemes for livelihood.
