Purnia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Purnia on September 15 with a big gift for Bihar. During his visit, he will launch and lay the foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs 40,000 crore. Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that every time the Prime Minister visits the state, he brings new schemes for its development. He also reminded people that in 2015, Modi had announced a special economic package of Rs 1.65 lakh crore for Bihar, something no Prime Minister had done before.
The biggest highlight of this visit will be the new terminal building at Purnia Airport. With this, the first commercial flight from Purnia will take off, making travel faster and easier for the people of Seemanchal. This airport has the biggest runway in Bihar and will give better air connectivity to this part of the state.
Apart from this, many new train services will also be flagged off. These include the Jogbani-Danapur Vande Bharat Express, Saharsa-Chheharta Amrit Bharat Express and Jogbani-Erode Amrit Bharat Express. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a new railway line from Araria to Galgalia (Thakurganj) and lay the foundation stone for a new rail line from Vikramshila to Katareh, which will further improve train connectivity.
Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a 3×800 MW thermal power plant at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur, which will help meet the state’s power needs. The first phase of the Kosi-Mechi interlinking project will also be launched, which is expected to improve irrigation facilities and control floods. Drinking water projects for Katihar, Bhagalpur and Darbhanga districts will be started, and sewage treatment plants will be built under the Namami Gange programme in several districts.
This visit will also bring direct benefits to thousands of families. Around 35,000 rural and 5,920 urban families will get their new homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Farmers and cattle owners will get a modern semen production centre in Purnia, which will help in improving cattle breeds. Community funds will also be given to women’s groups under the National Rural Livelihood Mission to support self-employment.
Deputy CM Choudhary said that this visit is very special for Seemanchal and nearby districts because it will bring new opportunities, better travel facilities and more jobs. He said these projects will take Bihar forward on the path of growth and give a new energy to the state’s development.
