Darbhanga: A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Jaale MLA and Minister Jibesh Kumar Mishra after a YouTuber alleged he was assaulted by the politician and his associates on Sunday.
Tejashwi Yadav, leader of the opposition in Bihar, accompanied the victim, YouTuber Dilip Kumar Sahni, also known as Diwakar, to the Singhwada police station in Darbhanga to lodge the complaint. Speaking to reporters, Yadav warned authorities that “if the police do not take him into custody, we will block the roads.”
Earlier in the day, Yadav held a press conference in Patna, demanding Mishra’s resignation and immediate registration of the FIR. “If the minister did not want to answer, he should have remained silent. There was no need to beat him,” Yadav said. “An attempt was even made to kidnap the journalist. I will ask the SP to conduct an impartial investigation.”
According to Diwakar, the incident occurred in Rampatti village of Rajo Panchayat, under the Singhwada police station jurisdiction. He claimed he was attacked after asking the minister questions about local arrangements. “At first they did not say anything, but when I asked again, Jibesh Mishra and his associates beat me up, broke my microphone, and tore my clothes. I was also verbally abused,” he said. A video of the alleged incident has circulated online, though the speaker’s identity has not been verified.
Yadav accused the ruling party of attempting to shield the minister. “I think the administration does not work according to the law. Now the matter will be covered up. His people will claim the minister was about to be attacked,” he said.
The minister, however, denied all allegations. “The claims of beating are completely false. I have no information about this. I will comment only after receiving details from the SDPO,” Mishra said.
Local police confirmed that SDPO Shubhendra Kumar Suman visited the village to defuse tensions, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Residents said Mishra had visited the home of Arjun Sahni to offer condolences for the death of his mother, but the YouTuber confronted the minister en route, prompting a brief altercation before the minister left the house within minutes.
