Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, has launched a direct attack on Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan, urging him to contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections independently, without the backing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In a video message released on his newly launched Facebook page, “Team Tej Pratap Yadav”, the former minister accused Paswan of lacking the courage to stand alone in the political arena. “If Chirag Paswan truly has the strength, then why is he forming an alliance with the BJP? If he has the guts, let him contest all 243 seats independently,” Yadav said.
The challenge comes as both the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Grand Alliance continue seat-sharing negotiations ahead of the polls.
Alongside his remarks, Yadav appealed to supporters to follow his new social media page, promising updates on his programmes, public meetings and campaigns. “You can also comment on your problems and questions here,” he told followers, adding that the page was designed by his IT team to enable direct engagement with the public.
Yadav, who now leads the Jan Shakti Janata Dal after a split with his family’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has formed an alliance with smaller parties and intends to contest from the Mahua constituency. He has repeatedly insisted he will not return to the RJD, swearing by the Bhagavad Gita and Lord Krishna that no invitation could persuade him back.
He has also publicly supported his sister Rohini Acharya and questioned the influence of Sanjay Yadav, a close aide of his younger brother and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, accusing him of trying to sideline Tejashwi within the party.
