Patna: The Bihar Police Subordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) has announced 1,799 vacancies for Sub-Inspectors (Daroga) in the state police. Online applications for the Level-6 posts will be accepted from September 26 until October 26 through the commission’s official website.

Each candidate is allowed to submit only one application. Reservation benefits will be extended to women across all categories and to transgender applicants. Eligible candidates must hold a graduate degree or its equivalent from a recognised university.

Age limits will be calculated as of August 1, based on matriculation or equivalent certificates. The minimum age for all candidates is 20 years. The maximum age is 37 years for general-category male candidates; 40 years for female candidates of all categories and male candidates from Backward and Extremely Backward Classes; and 42 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates. Applicants failing to meet the physical standards will be disqualified.

Physical requirements vary by category: general and backward class males must be at least 165 cm tall, extremely backward males 160 cm, and females 160 cm, with a minimum weight of 48 kg. Chest measurements will also be recorded. Transgender candidates will follow the same physical criteria as backward-class female candidates.

Candidates who clear the written examination will progress to the main exam, followed by the physical efficiency test. The final merit list will be based on marks obtained in the main written examination.

Separately, the Bihar Public Service Commission released results this week for recent recruitment exams: 28 Prohibition Sub-Inspector posts in the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department (exam held August 31), 24 Forest Range Officer posts in the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department (August 24), and 33 Enforcement Sub-Inspector posts in the Transport Department (September 7). Successful candidates’ roll numbers are available on the BPSC website.
