Patna: Patna, the capital city of Bihar, is on the verge of a major transformation as its first metro service prepares to launch. For years, the city has struggled with traffic jams, crowded roads, and pollution, making daily commuting difficult for residents. The first phase, known as the Red Line, will connect New Patliputra Bus Terminal to Bhootnath, with trains running at a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour. The final trial run of the Patna Metro is scheduled for September 29th. Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) Janak Kumar Garg and his team will inspect the tracks and trains to ensure everything meets safety standards. Only after this inspection will the metro be allowed to start carrying passengers. If all standards are met, passenger services could begin in the first week of October. Urban Development and Housing Minister Jivesh Kumar has confirmed that the inauguration will take place as soon as the safety checks are completed. Earlier inspections by the CMRS had highlighted some minor issues, which officials have been working to fix ahead of the final trial.
Meanwhile, work at all three Red Line stations is progressing quickly. Ticket counters, entry and exit gates, elevators, and escalators have been installed. Finishing touches are being added near the entrances of the Zerodol Mill and ISBT stations. Although completing every detail by September 30th is a challenge, authorities are confident that the inauguration process will not be delayed. The stations are being equipped with modern amenities to make travel convenient and comfortable for passengers, including proper security, lifts, and escalators.
