Patna: Patna’s transport authorities have taken a major step to enhance passenger safety and make city travel more organized. Now, all permitted autos and e-rickshaws in the district must carry a unique barcode. Passengers can scan this barcode to access information about the vehicle and driver, ensuring transparency and safer travel. Enforcement teams will also be able to check vehicle and driver details quickly, making it easier to monitor compliance. Drivers who operate without the required barcode will face fines, emphasizing the importance of following the new rules.
To make the process of obtaining permits easier, the Transport Department will soon launch an online application system. A special portal is being developed, allowing vehicle owners to apply based on their designated zones. Details about the application process will be shared through newspapers so residents are informed. Each vehicle owner can apply for up to three routes in a zone, but only one permit will be issued. Vehicles will still be allowed to use other routes for emergencies or refueling, provided they follow specific conditions.
The city has been divided into zones to streamline the operation of autos and e-rickshaws. Yellow, blue, and green zones have been created, along with separate zones for reserved vehicles. Under the new system, autos and e-rickshaws will generally be required to operate only within their designated zones. Officials believe this approach will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and make commuting in Patna smoother and more efficient for everyone.
Authorities have highlighted that these changes are part of a broader effort to modernize the city’s public transport system. By combining technology with regulation, the city aims to offer passengers a safer, more reliable experience. The barcode system and zone-based rules give enforcement teams the tools to monitor vehicles effectively while helping residents feel more confident about their daily commute. Overall, the initiative is expected to bring both convenience and improved safety to Patna’s growing urban transport network.
