Patna: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the final voter list after completing the Special Summary Revision (SIR) process. Citizens can now easily check if their names are included, correct any errors, or add their names if missing.
How to Check Your Name on the Voter List
Voters can verify their details both online and offline.
Offline: Visit the Block Development Officer (BDO) or contact your Booth Level Officer (BLO) with your EPIC number.
Online: Visit the official ECI portal at voters.eci.gov.in. There are three ways to check your name:
- By mobile number
- By personal details like name and age
- By EPIC number (Voter ID number)
What If There’s an Error in the Voter List?
If your name appears but there’s incorrect information (such as spelling of name, address, or parent’s name), you can apply for corrections by submitting Form 8 along with valid documents.
Importantly, you can still vote even if minor errors exist, as long as your EPIC number is correct. On polling day, you may use alternate documents like Aadhaar, ration card, government ID, or MNREGA card to establish identity.
However, if your EPIC number is wrong, you will not be allowed to vote.
What If Your Name Is Missing?
If your name is not on the list, you can add it by submitting Form 6 either online or offline. This can be done until 10 days before the last date of candidate nominations, which will be announced when the election schedule is declared.
How to View the Entire Booth List
Voters can also view the entire booth-wise voter list on the Election Commission’s portal (voters.eci.gov.in) or through their BLO.
Required Documents for Corrections or Additions
To update details or add your name, certain documents are required for verification.
For Date of Birth:
- Birth Certificate
- 10th/12th Marksheet
- Passport
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card
- Driving License
- Insurance Policy or Bank Passbook
For Address Proof:
- Aadhaar Card
- Passport
- Driving License
- Ration Card
- Electricity/Water/Telephone/Gas Bill
- Bank/Post Office Passbook with Address
- Rent Agreement
- Service Identity Card (Government Employee)
- Pension Document
- Caste Certificate
- Residence Certificate
Additionally, the names of parents or household members must appear on the voter list, along with their EPIC number. If parents are deceased, their names must have been included in the rolls before 2003.

The Election Commission has urged voters to check their details carefully, especially EPIC number, name, photo, parent’s/spouse’s name, and address, to avoid problems on polling day.
