Patna: As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign, AIIMS Patna organized the Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir – Preventive Health Check-up Camp on October 1, 2025, under the guidance of Dr. Sangam Jha, DMS (Diet Services). The camp was specifically designed for sanitation and kitchen staff above the age of 40 years.
Key Highlights of the Program
1. Comprehensive Health Check-ups
Preventive health check-ups were conducted for around 100 staff members from housekeeping and diet services, many of whom were above 40 years of age. The tests included vital health parameters such as weight, blood pressure (BP), and blood sugar levels. The aim was to identify potential health risks early and promote preventive healthcare.
2. Health & Hygiene Awareness Sessions
Staff members were sensitized on essential topics, including:
- Safe food handling practices
- Prevention of vector-borne and water-borne diseases
- Biosafety and personal hygiene measures
Additional focus areas included:
- Weight Control: Importance of regular monitoring to prevent lifestyle-related diseases.
- Blood Pressure Control: Awareness of risks such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disorders, and eye complications.
- Blood Sugar Control: Emphasis on a balanced diet, regular exercise, and periodic sugar testing to prevent or manage diabetes.
Housekeeping and kitchen staff were encouraged to adopt healthier lifestyles and undergo regular health check-ups for early detection and prevention of diseases.
3. Distribution of Protective Equipment
To support safe and hygienic work practices, PPE kits, masks, gloves, gumboots, and sanitizers were distributed to all participants.
Objective of the Initiative
The primary objective of the camp was to ensure the health protection of sanitation and kitchen staff, promote disease prevention through early screening, and strengthen safety and hygiene practices at the workplace.
Leadership and Impact
The Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir successfully combined preventive screening, health awareness, and safety promotion, reinforcing AIIMS Patna’s commitment to the well-being and dignity of its staff.
