Patna: Carrying the blessings of his family and faith, Tej Pratap Yadav, chief of the Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JD) and elder son of Lalu Prasad, filed his nomination papers from Mahua Assembly seat on Thursday — with a framed photograph of his grandmother Marachhiya Devi in his hands and his Vrindavan-based spiritual guru beside him.
Tej Pratap told reporters that his grandmother had always been his source of strength. “My grandmother is above everything for me. Her blessings are with me. My parents, my guru, and my grandmother — with their guidance, no challenge can stop me,” he said, holding up the photo.
‘Dadi Is Supreme’
Tej Pratap described his act as a symbolic tribute to his grandmother’s blessings. “Dadi is supreme. That is why I brought her photo with me while filing my nomination,” he said. He added that his guru from Vrindavan also accompanied him to Mahua.
When asked whether he would seek his parents’ blessings in person, Yadav smiled and pointed toward the framed photo: “See, I have already taken my mother’s blessings.”
A Symbolic Campaign Start
Tej Pratap’s nomination sparked curiosity among locals and supporters gathered outside the returning officer’s office in Vaishali district, as cameras captured him walking with the photo in hand.
Tej Pratap, who is contesting independently after forming the Jan Shakti Janata Dal, said the people of Mahua had called him back. “The people of Mahua are calling me, and that is why I am here,” he said.
The seat holds personal significance — it is from Mahua that Yadav began his electoral journey in 2015.
