Grand Alliance Negotiations Near Conclusion
The Congress’s rapid allocation process comes as the Grand Alliance works overtime to iron out the remaining kinks in its complex seat-sharing formula. The formal, multi-party announcement is also anticipated late tonight.
Sources indicate that the seat-sharing agreement between the RJD, Congress, and the Left parties is largely complete. The primary outstanding issue delaying the final announcement appears to be the quota for Mukesh Sahni’s party. It is rumored that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has personally spoken with Mr. Sahni to expedite the resolution of the deadlock. The final announcement will determine the electoral map for the coalition ahead of the crucial first phase.
