Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab Cultural Festival Debuts in Patna, Celebrating Hindustani Art and Literature

Patna: Patna is set to witness the inaugural edition of Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab Cultural Kaarva’n Virasat, a significant cultural extravaganza celebrating Hindustani art, culture, and literature. Scheduled for April 5 and 6, at Prem Chand Rangshala on Saidpur Road, Rajendra Nagar, this event marks a milestone for the city’s cultural scene.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of India, the festival promises a blend of talent from across the nation, showcasing the richness of Hindustani traditions. Renowned artists from various corners of India will grace the stage, offering captivating performances over the two-day event. Entry will be free for all.

On April 5, the program will commence with ‘Abhi Tuk Rote Rote So Gaya Hai’ a romantic Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira dedicated to the legendary wordsmith (shayar) Meer Taqi Meer on 300 years of his birth. This will feature some of the best and most renowned shayars and kavis of India – Farhat Ehsaas, Azm Shakiri, Javed Mushiri, Ramayan Dhar Dwivedi, Gautam Rajrishi, Ashwani Kumar Chand, Kunwar Ranjeet Chauhan, Anas Faizi and Shakir Dehlvi. Kathak dance performance ‘Raqs – Ghungroo Bol Uthe’ by Vidha Lal and her group is another one to look forward to. ‘Sur Sandhya’ classical singing by Padma Bhushan Pt. Sajan Mishra and Pt. Swaransh Mishra will be the high point of the day. The finale performance for the day will be Sur Yamini with Padma Shri Malini Awasthi renowned folk and classical singer.

Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab Comes to Patna

The second day will begin with a fast based Urdu Poetry Game ‘Baitbazi’. Qissa Heer Wris Shah – The Original Story will be performed by Manu Sikander Dhingra with Rabab Player from Kashmir Padma Shri Ustad Gulfam Ahmed Khan. Audience can look forward to an interesting panel discussion ‘Aaj Ke Daur Ka Cinema OTT Ki Shakl Mein’ featuring Panchayat fame actor Faisal Malik in conversation with Kunwar Ranjeet Chauhan. The high point of the day will be Instrumental performance by Rabab Player from Kashmir Padma Shri Ustad Gulfam Ahmed Khan. Mehfil-e-Ghazal by singer Chandan Dass promises to mesmerise the audience. The program will come to its finale with Sufi Gayan by Rajeev Singh and Group.

Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab Cultural Kaarva’n Virasat has previously been held in several states and union territories across India, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and, Jammu & Kashmir. It serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Hindustani art, culture, and literature.
