Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab Cultural Festival Debuts in Patna, Celebrating Hindustani Art and Literature

Patna: Patna is set to witness the inaugural edition of Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab Cultural Kaarva’n Virasat, a significant cultural extravaganza celebrating Hindustani art, culture, and literature. Scheduled for April 5 and 6, at Prem Chand Rangshala on Saidpur Road, Rajendra Nagar, this event marks a milestone for the city’s cultural scene.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of India, the festival promises a blend of talent from across the nation, showcasing the richness of Hindustani traditions. Renowned artists from various corners of India will grace the stage, offering captivating performances over the two-day event. Entry will be free for all.

On April 5, the program will commence with ‘Abhi Tuk Rote Rote So Gaya Hai’ a romantic Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira dedicated to the legendary wordsmith (shayar) Meer Taqi Meer on 300 years of his birth. This will feature some of the best and most renowned shayars and kavis of India – Farhat Ehsaas, Azm Shakiri, Javed Mushiri, Ramayan Dhar Dwivedi, Gautam Rajrishi, Ashwani Kumar Chand, Kunwar Ranjeet Chauhan, Anas Faizi and Shakir Dehlvi. Kathak dance performance ‘Raqs – Ghungroo Bol Uthe’ by Vidha Lal and her group is another one to look forward to. ‘Sur Sandhya’ classical singing by Padma Bhushan Pt. Sajan Mishra and Pt. Swaransh Mishra will be the high point of the day. The finale performance for the day will be Sur Yamini with Padma Shri Malini Awasthi renowned folk and classical singer.

Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab Comes to Patna

The second day will begin with a fast based Urdu Poetry Game ‘Baitbazi’. Qissa Heer Wris Shah – The Original Story will be performed by Manu Sikander Dhingra with Rabab Player from Kashmir Padma Shri Ustad Gulfam Ahmed Khan. Audience can look forward to an interesting panel discussion ‘Aaj Ke Daur Ka Cinema OTT Ki Shakl Mein’ featuring Panchayat fame actor Faisal Malik in conversation with Kunwar Ranjeet Chauhan. The high point of the day will be Instrumental performance by Rabab Player from Kashmir Padma Shri Ustad Gulfam Ahmed Khan. Mehfil-e-Ghazal by singer Chandan Dass promises to mesmerise the audience. The program will come to its finale with Sufi Gayan by Rajeev Singh and Group.

Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab Comes to Patna

Kunwar Ranjeet Chauhan, Poet and Founder of Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab, expressed his excitement about the event’s expansion, saying, “Moving from state to state, our festival aims to connect people with the vibrant Hindustani art, culture, and literature. We are proud to bring this celebration to Patna, a city steeped in cultural heritage. We are proud and humbled that accomplished, renowned and respected artists have agreed to grace and perform on our stage. We want more and more people to come and witness the brilliance of these artists. We want to connect the Indian youth and showcase the vibrancy of our Hindustani art, culture and literature to them, give them access to meaningful art.”

Sahityotsav Jashn-e-Adab Cultural Kaarva’n Virasat has previously been held in several states and union territories across India, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and, Jammu & Kashmir. It serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Hindustani art, culture, and literature. This festival stands as a cornerstone in the preservation and promotion of authentic Hindustani art forms, embodying the essence of India’s rich cultural heritage.

  • Patna witnessed a significant political gathering as the BJP observed “Constitution Murder Day” on June 25, marking the anniversary of the Emergency imposed in 1975. Addressing the event, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary described the day as a reminder of the challenges faced by Indian democracy and paid tribute to the veterans of the JP Movement who fought against authoritarian rule.
The Chief Minister emphasized that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the vision of a developed India is being pursued through welfare-driven governance. He highlighted government initiatives including housing, electricity, drinking water, and the PM Surya Ghar scheme aimed at improving the lives of economically weaker sections.
Choudhary also announced that applications received from JP Movement veterans through the government’s “Sahyog” outreach program would be reviewed by a dedicated committee, ensuring that deserving individuals receive recognition and benefits. He further stated that all JP Movement veterans would be formally honored during next year’s June 25 observance.
Presenting the performance report of the government’s Sahyog initiative, the Chief Minister revealed that over 370,000 applications were received within the first month, with more than 320,000 already resolved. He said strict monitoring and accountability measures had ensured timely action by officials, reflecting the administration’s commitment to efficient governance and public service delivery.

  • Union Minister Giriraj Singh has called for restraint and responsibility in the ongoing discourse surrounding the Bharat Tiwari murder case, stating that the matter should not be politicised. He emphasized that both the Bihar Government and the Chief Minister are treating the case with utmost seriousness and sensitivity.

Speaking to the media in Patna, Singh reiterated that a fair and transparent investigation is underway and assured that those found guilty will face strict action. Referring to the Chief Minister’s remarks, he said that “the truth will prevail” and that no culprit will be spared.

The Union Minister also welcomed the inclusion of the Emergency period in NCERT textbooks, describing it as an important step toward educating future generations about the challenges faced by Indian democracy. He remarked that understanding the consequences of democratic suppression would help ensure that such events are never repeated.

Commenting on recent political statements, Singh also targeted the Congress party, alleging that its political culture remains unchanged and drawing parallels between its past and present leadership narratives.
