Gayaji: In a shocking incident on Diwali morning, a 19-year-old youth was shot dead in Gayaji’s Kotwali police station area. The victim, identified as Subhash Kumar, son of Upendra Paswan from Bairagi Mohalla, was gunned down by three men in what appears to be a premeditated murder.
According to police, the assailants fired four bullets at Subhash from close range, killing him on the spot. Chilling CCTV footage of the murder has surfaced, showing the sequence of events that unfolded on the quiet street.
CCTV Footage Captures the Attack
The footage shows Subhash standing with four men. He is seen holding a stick, possibly in an attempt to defend himself. One of the men suddenly pulls out a pistol and points it at him. Subhash appears momentarily unfazed, perhaps believing the man wouldn’t shoot. Moments later, the first shooter fires, and Subhash collapses to the ground.
Even after being shot, Subhash is seen trying to speak to the attackers. A second man then steps forward and shoots him again. Finally, a third man approaches and fires a bullet into Subhash’s chest from close range.
The video shows Subhash writhing in pain on the road as the attackers calmly walk away, brandishing their weapons to scare onlookers. Several people witnessed the crime, but none intervened or called the police.
Father Alleges Contract Killing
Subhash’s father, Upendra Paswan, said, “My son had gone out in the morning for some work. The criminals were already waiting for him. They shot him at close range. This was a planned killing carried out by a contract killer.”
Locals said a long-standing dispute may have led to the murder. According to residents, Upendra Paswan had been in conflict with another man in the area for nearly five years. Several clashes had occurred in the past, and a case between the two sides is still pending.
Police Begin Probe, Examine CCTV Footage
After being informed, Kotwali police reached the spot and sent the body to Magadh Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Evidence was collected from the scene, and CCTV footage from nearby locations is being scrutinized.
DSP Saroj Kumar said, “The deceased’s family has named a few suspects but has not yet filed a formal complaint. Once the application is received, appropriate action will be taken.”
