Grand Alliance Unity: Tejashwi Yadav Named CM Face, Mukesh Sahni to be Deputy CM Candidate for Bihar Elections

In a major move to solidify its pre-election strategy for the Bihar Assembly polls, the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) held a joint press conference in Patna today, formally naming Tejashwi Prasad Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate. Furthermore, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni has been declared the alliance's Deputy Chief Ministerial candidate, settling internal tensions and presenting a united front to the electorate.

Patna: The political landscape in Bihar gained crucial clarity on Thursday as the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) officially unveiled its leadership structure for the upcoming Assembly elections. The announcement was made during a joint press conference in Patna, signaling that internal disagreements within the opposition bloc are subsiding.

Senior Congress functionary and former Gujarat Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot made the declaration, stating, “It has been decided unanimously by all allies in the Mahagathbandhan that Tejashwi Yadav ji is our Chief Ministerial candidate in Bihar elections. He is a young and promising face.”

Following the announcement, a visibly confident Tejashwi Yadav addressed the media, extending his gratitude to all constituent parties. “We will throw out the inefficient government in Bihar and bring a new era of development in Bihar,” he pledged, emphasizing the alliance’s commitment to the faith and support shown by its partners.

Sahni Named Deputy CM Candidate

In a significant move aimed at broadening the alliance’s social base, Mukesh Sahni, chief of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), was named the Deputy Chief Ministerial candidate.

Ashok Gehlot highlighted Sahni’s role, noting, “Mukesh Sahni ji has worked hard to build his party and is a face of socialist politics. Thus, we have decided that Muskesh Sahni ji will be the Deputy Chief Ministerial candidate.”

The joint press conference featured key leaders from the various allied parties, including IP Gupta of the Indian Inclusive Party (IIP), Lalan Chaudhary of the CPM, Ram Naresh Pandey of the CPI, Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram, and CPI (ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya.

Challenge to the NDA

In his address, Tejashwi Yadav immediately turned the focus onto the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), demanding that the coalition clarify its own leadership.

Tejashwi specifically questioned the stance of the BJP leadership regarding current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “Amit Shah has remained ambiguous till now on the CM face of NDA. He only has said that the legislator party will elect their leader or CM face. He has not clearly said that Nitish will be the CM face. Shah will not let Nitish become CM again,” Tejashwi asserted, attempting to exploit potential rifts within the NDA and pressuring them to provide a clear answer to the public.

With the Grand Alliance’s top two leadership posts now officially declared, the focus shifts to the NDA’s counter-strategy and how it will respond to the united opposition presented by Tejashwi Yadav and Mukesh Sahni.
