Nalanda: A railway employee identified as Raja Bhaiya died by suicide at his home in Veera Kunwar village, under Bele Panchayat in the Islampur police station area of Nalanda district, on Thursday morning. The man, who worked as a Class IV employee in Maharashtra, was found hanging inside his residence.
Police officials from Islampur reached the scene shortly after being alerted and sent the body to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has also been called in to assist with the investigation.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Kumar Rishiraj said the cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem and detailed inquiry. “We are examining all aspects of the case to determine the reason behind the suicide,” he said.
According to local residents, Raja Bhaiya had recently returned to his native village following the death of his mother around 20 days ago during Dussehra. Family members and villagers said he had been deeply affected by her passing and appeared mentally distressed in recent days.
