Gaya: A tragic accident in Bihar’s Gaya district on Monday claimed the lives of two teenagers and left another critically injured when they were struck by trains while filming an Instagram reel on a railway track.
The incident took place near Shankar Bigaha Manjhiama village on the Guraru–Ismailpur rail section. According to eyewitnesses, the boys were recording a video on their mobile phone when trains approached simultaneously from both directions, leaving them no time to react.
The deceased were identified as Rajiv Kumar (12) of Konch Pali and Gautam Kumar (14) of Paraiya Khagdi Bigaha. The injured, Vipin Kumar (14) from Paraiya Paranpur, was rushed to a private hospital in Guraru and later referred to Magadh Medical College in Gaya for advanced treatment.
Police sources said all three had come to their maternal uncle Surendra Paswan’s home in Manjhiama village for Chhath Puja celebrations. The joy of the festival quickly turned to grief as news of the accident spread across the village.
Locals gathered at the site soon after the incident, expressing outrage and sorrow. Family members were inconsolable as preparations began for the last rites. Both of the deceased were related to Paswan—one his nephew and the other his grandson, while the injured boy is also a close relative.
Residents have urged authorities to tighten safety measures near railway tracks, especially in areas where young people often gather to make videos.
