Muzaffarpur: In a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that the BJP was “controlling” the state government and accused Modi of “drama politics” ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
Addressing a packed rally in Muzaffarpur alongside Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, Gandhi said, “Narendra Modi has nothing to do with Chhath Puja. He only wants your votes. You can make him do any drama for votes — ask him to dance on stage, and he will do it.”
The remarks came during Gandhi’s 25-minute address, which was filled with sharp jibes at both the BJP and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United). Gandhi alleged that Nitish Kumar’s government was being “run by remote control” from Delhi. “Nitish Kumar’s face is just a front. The BJP operates him. Even those around him are chosen by Delhi,” he claimed.
Gandhi also raised concerns about unemployment and migration, saying that Bihar’s youth were building cities like Delhi and Bengaluru while their own state lagged behind. “If Biharis can build Dubai and Gujarat, why can’t Bihar build itself? We want Made in Bihar, not Made in China,” he told the crowd, promising industrial growth and local manufacturing.
The Congress leader accused the central government of favouring industrialist Gautam Adani, claiming that “land in Bhagalpur was handed over to Adani for just one rupee.” He also questioned the neutrality of the Election Commission, alleging that “vote theft” seen in Maharashtra and Haryana could be repeated in Bihar.
Joining him on stage, Tejashwi Yadav echoed Gandhi’s sentiment, urging voters to end the “20-year rule” of Nitish Kumar. “It’s time to sow new seeds in Bihar,” Yadav said, promising employment, inflation control, and transparency. He asserted that “every household without a government job will get one member employed once our government is formed.”
