Raghopur: RJD leader Misa Bharti, daughter of Lalu Prasad and elder sister of Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, joined the election campaign in Raghopur, Vaishali, on Wednesday — marking her first appearance in her brother’s constituency. Tejashwi Yadav, the Chief Ministerial face of the Grand Alliance, is contesting from Raghopur, a seat long considered the RJD’s stronghold.
Arriving in Hajipur from her Patna residence, Misa Bharti was greeted by hundreds of enthusiastic party workers before addressing supporters in Raghopur. “I have come to Raghopur to seek blessings for my brother and for the brothers of Bihar,” she said. “Please give your love, blessings, and support to Tejashwi Yadav. Vote for him so that he can become the Chief Minister and bring development to Bihar.”
Asked about her estranged brother Tej Pratap Yadav, who has been critical of the RJD’s leadership, Misa Bharti struck a conciliatory tone. “Tej Pratap Yadav is my younger brother, and this is the truth — it cannot be denied,” she said. “As an elder sister, I give him my blessings and best wishes. However, as a party member, I cannot comment on his political decisions.”
She acknowledged that Lalu Prasad, the RJD’s national president, has expelled Tej Pratap from the party for six years, but maintained that he remains part of the family. Tej Pratap, who now leads his own political outfit, had recently warned Tejashwi against campaigning for the RJD candidate in Mahua, threatening to campaign against him in Raghopur in response.
Misa Bharti, however, sought to steer clear of the controversy, choosing instead to project unity and emotional appeal. “Tejashwi represents Bihar’s youth and hope,” she said. “This election is about progress, and I have come to ask the people of Raghopur to bless that progress.”
