Patna: The Election Commission of India’s Home Voting initiative concluded successfully in Patna district, enabling hundreds of senior citizens and differently-abled voters to cast their ballots from home. Conducted across 14 assembly constituencies, the drive ensured inclusivity and accessibility in the electoral process.
According to district election officials, 567 eligible voters—including citizens above the age of 85 and those with over 40% disability—had applied through Form 12D to avail the facility. Of these, 539 voters successfully exercised their franchise through postal ballots on October 29 and 30.
Under the direction of District Magistrate-cum-District Election Officer of Patna, special polling teams were formed and dispatched to the residences of registered voters. Each team included polling personnel, security officers, and videographers to maintain transparency and confidentiality.
Officials said the process was carried out peacefully and in strict adherence to Election Commission guidelines. “The aim of Home Voting is to ensure that no eligible voter is left behind, regardless of age or physical condition,” said a senior election officer.
