Muzaffarpur: Tensions ran high in Muzaffarpur on Friday evening as political strategist-turned-leader Prashant Kishore’s roadshow was disrupted by protesters demanding justice for Dularchand Yadav. The incident occurred during Kishore’s Jansuraj Padyatra in the Kudhni Assembly constituency, where a group of young men blocked his convoy and raised slogans linked to the recent murder of Dularchand Yadav in Mokama.
Videos from the scene have gone viral on social media, showing several protesters standing in front of Kishore’s vehicle and chanting, “Long live Dularchand Yadav,” “Long live the lion of Mokama,” and “Down with Prashant Kishore.” The protest created brief chaos as Kishore’s team and security personnel attempted to clear the path. The rally resumed after a few minutes, but the slogans and the sudden unrest left the gathering tense and uneasy.
The outrage stems from the death of Dularchand Yadav, a strongman and former national president of the Yadav Mahasabha, who was found dead in Mokama earlier this week. He had been actively taking part in the Jansuraj campaign and was seen as an influential figure in the local political scene. His supporters allege that Yadav was killed due to political rivalry. The Jansuraj candidate from Mokama even went live on social media, accusing Anant Singh’s supporters—known locally as followers of “Chhote Sarkar”—of involvement in the attack. However, police have not confirmed any of these allegations so far.
According to the post-mortem report, Dularchand Yadav did not die from a gunshot wound as initially believed. The report states that although a bullet passed through his leg, it was not fatal. The real cause of death was a ruptured lung and cardio-respiratory failure. Police have started an investigation based on the report and evidence collected from the scene. Meanwhile, anger continues to rise among Dularchand’s supporters and members of the Yadav Mahasabha, who have taken to social media to demand justice and punishment for those responsible.
The Jansuraj team has not yet issued an official statement about the incident, while political tensions in Bihar show no sign of calming. What began as a campaign event in Muzaffarpur quickly turned into a scene of protest and emotion, reflecting how the murder in Mokama has now become a major issue in the state’s election season.
