Bihar Weather Forecast: Relief from Heatwave Expected as Rainfall Predicted from May 5
Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a dry spell across most districts of Bihar on Friday, with the possibility of a heatwave in Supaul and Araria prompting an orange alert. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for potential heatwave conditions in Bhagalpur, Purnia, East Champaran, Shekhpura, Khagaria, and Banka districts.
The recent continuous snowfall in mountainous regions has significantly reduced the intensity of the north-westerly wind, providing respite from the sweltering heat for residents. However, the north-westerly wind is expected to regain heat on May 4, although a change in wind direction from the evening of May 5 may bring relief once again.
According to meteorological experts, a shift in weather patterns is anticipated from May 5 onwards, with cloudy skies and the possibility of light rainfall in some areas of the state. The influx of moist east winds from the Bay of Bengal is projected to lower maximum temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
Comparing to May 2023, when the state experienced heatwave conditions for 8 days, meteorological projections suggest that May 2024 could witness an increase in the number of heatwave days. However, minimum temperatures are expected to remain within normal ranges throughout the month. Furthermore, rainfall in May is forecasted to be either normal or below normal.
