Patna: On the eve of the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, the Election Commission has released helpline numbers, fax details and email IDs for reporting any voting-day irregularities. Polling for 121 seats across 18 districts will take place on Thursday, November 6.
A control room has been set up at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Patna to monitor complaints and voter-related issues throughout the polling period. Officials said the centre will remain functional until the voting process concludes.
According to the Commission, complaints or information can be shared directly on 0612-2824001. Voters can also send documents or reports via fax to 0612-2215611. For email communication, two addresses have been provided: ceo_bihar@eci.gov.in and ceobihar@gmail.com.
Polling parties and security personnel have begun reaching their designated booths, while a holiday has been declared across polling areas. A large contingent of Central Paramilitary Forces has been deployed to maintain order.
On Wednesday, Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjyal inspected the State Command Control Centre and reviewed arrangements for live webcasting from polling stations. He instructed staff to closely track district-level developments. Additional Chief Electoral Officers Amit Pandey and Prashant CH, OSD Shriprakash and other officials were also present.
The second phase of polling, covering the remaining 122 seats, will be held on 11 November. Votes will be counted on November 14.
