Patna: Bihar appears poised to set another turnout record, with voting in the second phase of the 2025 assembly elections progressing even faster than in the first. By 1pm on Tuesday, polling across 122 constituencies in 20 districts stood at 47.62%, compared with 42.31% recorded at the same time during the first phase.
The brisk pace has prompted expectations that Bihar could surpass its own turnout record set just days earlier. In the first phase, held on 6 November, the state registered a total turnout of 65.08% across 121 seats in 18 districts — the highest ever recorded in any assembly or Lok Sabha election in the state.
The Election Commission is releasing updated figures every two hours. Higher turnout has been reported at each of the three checkpoints so far — 9am, 11am, and 1pm — when compared with the first phase. Further updates are expected at 3pm and 5pm, followed by the final consolidated figures.
