Patna: The swearing-in ceremony of Bihar’s new government at Gandhi Maidan on Thursday was accompanied by an unusual soundtrack: the Bhojpuri-style song “Jodi Modi Nitish Ke Hit Hoi..” The music, echoing across the historic ground, prompted ministers, dignitaries, and members of the public to wave gamchhas (handkerchiefs) in celebration, transforming the formal occasion into a lively display of public enthusiasm.
From early morning, large crowds gathered to witness the event. As the song played, the atmosphere became festive, with supporters dancing and cheering, while prominent figures including ministers, MPs, and MLAs smiled and joined in the celebration. The event combined political ritual with cultural spectacle, reflecting the deep-rooted local traditions of Bihar.
On stage, leaders from across the country attended, including the Chief Ministers of Haryana, Assam, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Meghalaya, as well as Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Ministers Brijesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya. Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s arrival added to the crowd’s excitement, which intensified as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar entered the venue. Chants of “Jai Bihar” and “Nitish Kumar Zindabad” reverberated throughout Gandhi Maidan, amplified further by news of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival from the airport.
Cultural performances ran alongside the political proceedings. Sharda Sinha’s Chhath songs lent a devotional tone, while Bhojpuri artists Manoj Tiwari and Pawan Singh energized the crowd with their performances.
