Bagaha/Patna: Prashant Kishor ended his day-long silent fast at Bhitiharwa Gandhi Ashram on Friday with a sweeping new political plan and an uncompromising attack on the newly formed NDA government in Bihar. The Jan Suraaj founder, who remained silent for 24 hours as an act of introspection following his party’s poor electoral showing, said the fast was meant to “return to the point where hope began” and to reflect on what he called a “deeply troubling” election for Bihar’s democracy.

Kishor accused the state government of winning the election through “unprecedented and unconstitutional misuse of public funds,” alleging that the NDA “bought votes of poor women” by distributing Rs10,000 during the campaign under the promise of Rs2 lakh later. “This is the first time in independent India that votes of poor people were bought at this scale,” he said. “If governments can purchase votes using the state exchequer, democracy itself is in danger.”

He claimed the payments were issued using contingency funds and even loans from the World Bank. “It is illegal, unconstitutional and immoral. We will keep fighting against this,” he said.

A Statewide Campaign From January

Laying out Jan Suraaj’s next phase, Kishor announced a massive mobilisation drive — Bihar Navnirman Sankalp — beginning 15 January. The campaign will hold public camps across 1.18 lakh wards in 534 blocks, aiming to help the 1.5 crore women who received Rs10,000 demand the remaining Rs2 lakh promised by the government.

He said he would spend “one full day in every block of Bihar over the next 20 months,” pledging to rebuild direct contact with citizens and “act as their voice.”

“I will stay in Bihar and continue raising awareness so that people realise their power and take wiser political decisions,” he added.

Personal Wealth Pledged to Jan Suraaj

Kishor also made his starkest personal commitment yet:
“Whatever I earn in the next five years — 90% of it will go to Jan Suraaj. Except for my house in Delhi, everything I have earned in the last 20 years will also be spent on this movement.”

He appealed to people from all political backgrounds to donate at least Rs1,000 a year, saying he would not meet anyone who has made “no tangible contribution” to the movement.

Sharp Attack on NDA Cabinet

Kishor reserved his strongest remarks for the new NDA government, calling its cabinet “a mockery of Bihar.”

“The new government is a cocktail of dynasty politics, corruption and criminal backgrounds,” he said. “People with no educational or political qualification have been made ministers. Nitish Kumar, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have rewarded the worst examples of nepotism.”

Jan Suraaj state president Manoj Bharti urged party workers to remain active despite the electoral setback. “Our responsibility to the people has not ended,” he said.

Kishor began his silent fast on Thursday after offering floral tributes at the Bhitiharwa Gandhi Ashram — a site central to Gandhi’s early Satyagraha movement. Throughout the day, party workers, district representatives and candidates gathered at the venue as he observed silence under a tent erected for the vigil.

The party is expected to announce further plans once Kishor’s statewide outreach begins in January.
