Patna: Women in Bihar who have yet to receive the Rs 10,000 transfer under the state’s Jeevika scheme can expect the funds by the end of December, officials have confirmed.
Ashish Kumar Singh, the Block Manager of Jeevika, said that of the 34,000 women who applied for the programme in the block, 30,000 have already received the payment through direct benefit transfer (DBT). The remaining 4,000 beneficiaries are scheduled to receive the funds by the last week of December, with some transfers also planned for November 28.
Singh emphasised that women who have received the Rs 10,000 must commence employment as stipulated under the scheme. “The Jeevika team will soon audit employment-related activities. Only after this review will the next significant transfer of Rs 1.9 lakh be disbursed, which may take some time,” he said.
He added that women who have yet to begin work despite receiving funds will be urged to do so immediately. The scheme aims to empower women and foster self-reliance, Singh noted. Officials also cautioned beneficiaries to ensure that their bank account and Aadhaar details are accurate, as discrepancies could delay transfers.
