Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an extensive inspection of several key infrastructure projects in Patna on Thursday, urging engineers and senior officials to speed up construction on the city’s expanding elevated road network.
The Chief Minister reviewed progress on the railway overbridge (ROB) at Sipara Gumti, the 2.1km Sipara–Mithapur elevated road, and the approach and service roads linking the Mithapur flyover with the Chiraiyatand flyover. Standing near project sites at Sipara, Mithapur and the bypass stretch, he instructed teams to meet the stipulated deadlines and ensure uninterrupted workflow.
“Complete the work within the timeframe. People must feel the relief these projects are meant to deliver,” Nitish Kumar told officials during site inspections.

11.9km Corridor to Ease Patna’s Heavy Traffic
The Mithapur–Mahuli–Punpun corridor, stretching 11.90km, is one of Patna’s most ambitious urban mobility projects. It includes:
-
5.20km elevated 4-lane stretch
-
6.70km elevated 4-lane stretch
The Bhupatipur–Mahuli segment is already functional, while the Mahuli–Punpun section was inaugurated by the Chief Minister on 16 June 2025.
Under Phase 2, the Sipara ROB and the 2.1km elevated link to Mithapur are under construction, with a target completion date of August 2026. Once completed, the 4-lane corridor will act as a crucial connector between Patna and the Patna–Gayaji National Highway, significantly easing intercity travel.

Chiraiyatand–Karbighhia Link Expected by June 2026
Nitish Kumar also examined progress on the Mithapur–Chiraiyatand–Karbighhia flyover, a strategic 1.73km, 15.50-metre wide road designed to relieve chronic congestion near Karbighhia railway station.
The route will connect key traffic points across central Patna, including:
-
R-Block Golambar
-
GPO Golambar
-
Mithapur Golambar
-
Karbighhia Station
-
Kankarbagh residential zone
It will also integrate with the new Mahuli–Mithapur flyover and the NH-31 New Bypass, creating a seamless elevated network across the city.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the current status of piling, deck slab preparation and service lane construction. Nitish Kumar stressed the need for quality control and timely execution, noting the high public expectations attached to the project.
