Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has moved quickly after forming a new NDA government, directing all state departments to submit complete vacancy data by December 31 so that the government can issue a comprehensive job calendar in January 2026.
The initiative, announced by the Chief Minister on X, is part of an aggressive push to fulfil his promise of creating large-scale employment opportunities.
Nitish Kumar, buoyed by a decisive electoral victory, said the government had already begun work on the commitment to generate one crore jobs and livelihood opportunities in the next five years.

‘Job Creation Our Priority’: Nitish Sets Targets for 2025–30
In his post, the Chief Minister emphasised that employment has always been at the heart of the government’s agenda.
“Providing government jobs and employment to the maximum number of youths has been our priority from the beginning,” he wrote.
Under the Saat Nishchay-II programme, the state claims to have provided 50 lakh jobs and livelihood opportunities between 2020 and 2025.
For the next phase, covering 2025–2030, Nitish said the target is to ensure employment for one crore young people, marking one of the largest job commitments made by any Indian state.
Departments, Districts, Police HQ Told to File Vacancy Reports
The Chief Minister has instructed all administrative departments, divisional commissioners, district magistrates and offices under the Police Headquarters to submit complete vacancy requisitions to the General Administration Department (GAD) by December 31, 2025.
The GAD will then verify the requisitions and forward them to the respective recruitment commissions, expediting the process of advertisement, examinations and appointments.
Nitish Kumar stressed that the process must be conducted “swiftly and without delay.”
Job Calendar in January: Strict Timelines, No More Long Delays
The government has directed all recruitment commissions and selection agencies to publish an annual job calendar in January 2026.
The calendar must list:
-
Dates of advertisement publication
-
Tentative examination periods
-
Final result declaration timeline
The CM underlined that no recruitment cycle should exceed one year from advertisement to final result — a direct attempt to end Bihar’s long-standing delays in hiring.
Transparency, Online Exams and Fast-Track Action Against Malpractice
Nitish Kumar said the government has instructed all hiring agencies to ensure that examinations are conducted in a transparent, clean and fair manner.
Any instance of malpractice must be dealt with through immediate action, including punishment via fast-track courts.
He added that the number of centres for computer-based tests (CBT) will be increased across the state to ensure smooth and timely examinations.
“We are committed to securing the future of Bihar’s youth. Every exam will be conducted on time and with complete transparency,” he said, adding that the goal is to make young people skilled, self-reliant and confident.
