Patna: The Department of Orthopaedics at AIIMS Patna convened leading orthopaedic surgeons, faculty, and residents for a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on Total Hip Replacement, under the chairmanship of Prof. (Dr.) Sudeep Kumar.
Highlighting the significance of hip replacement surgery, Prof. Kumar described it as “the surgery of the century,” noting that AIIMS Patna has been performing the procedure since 2014. “Patients suffering from hip arthritis can benefit immensely from this surgery, and there is absolutely no need to fear it. This CME reflects our dedication to training the next generation of surgeons and ensuring safe, evidence-based care,” he said.

The programme, co-chaired by Prof. Dr. Anup Kumar, Medical Superintendent at AIIMS Patna, featured a hands-on Sawbone Workshop that allowed residents to practise surgical techniques in a simulated setting.
The CME also hosted external faculties Dr. Sanjay Yadav (IMS–BHU) and Dr. Deepak Gautam (Navi Mumbai), alongside AIIMS Patna faculty including Dr. Blgovind S Raja, Dr. Wasim Ahmad, Dr. Ashish Singh, Dr. Ramakant Kumar, Dr. Nishiiant Kumar, Dr. Ritesh Pandey, Dr. Avinash Kumar, and Dr. Prabhat Agrawal. Participants engaged in discussions on clinical insights and best practices, further enriching the academic experience.

The event underscored AIIMS Patna’s commitment to advancing orthopaedic education and promoting high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with hip disorders.
