Patna: The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 was conducted offline on Sunday across six centres in Patna, with additional centres in Muzaffarpur as part of the seven set up across Bihar.
A total of 5,434 students from the state had registered for the exam, though only 5,308 appeared. Of these, 4,909 candidates took the undergraduate (UG) LLB exam out of 5,010 registered, while 399 candidates appeared for the postgraduate (PG) LLM exam, slightly lower than the 424 who had registered. The exam was held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Candidates reported a notable change in the questioning pattern this year. Many questions were presented directly from passages, prompting mixed reactions among test-takers. The paper comprised 120 multiple-choice questions covering five sections: English Language, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.
While the English and General Knowledge sections were reportedly straightforward, some students found the Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Techniques sections challenging. Candidates noted that several important topics were asked directly, particularly in the General Knowledge section, which had fewer rotated questions than in previous years. Overall, the difficulty level was described as easy to moderate, similar to last year’s exam.
The test was conducted at several institutions, including Chanakya National Law University, DAV College, Magadh Mahila College, Patna Science College, Patna Law College, JD Women’s College, and Langat Singh College in Muzaffarpur.
A provisional answer key is expected to be released soon, allowing candidates to review and raise objections if necessary.
