Patna: A suspected criminal was injured in an early morning encounter with police in the Muradpur area of Janipur, Patna. The man, identified as Rakesh Kumar, was shot in the leg and is currently receiving treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
According to reports, Kumar is accused of attempting to extort money from a bank employee. Police officials said they had been keeping him under surveillance when he allegedly opened fire while trying to evade arrest. Officers responded, wounding him in the leg.

Kumar is reportedly a resident of the Sahabzpur area under the Digha police station jurisdiction. Authorities are investigating the incident and believe some of Kumar’s associates may also have been involved in the extortion attempt. Police raids are underway to apprehend them.
The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling organised criminal activity in Patna.
