Patna: Tourism infrastructure in Bihar continues to expand, with authorities preparing to open a ropeway service to the historic Rohtasgarh Fort following the successful completion of trial operations.
Officials said the ropeway has been tested and can carry up to 48 passengers at a time across 12 cabins, with six cabins operating uphill and six downhill. Each journey is expected to take between 15 and 20 minutes, significantly reducing the effort required to reach the hilltop fort.

The project is intended to improve access to the centuries-old site, which has long been admired for its historical and architectural significance but remains challenging to reach for many visitors due to its steep terrain.
After the completion of remaining technical checks and administrative clearances, the ropeway is scheduled to be opened to the public at the start of the new year. Tourism officials believe the service will encourage more domestic and out-of-state travellers to visit Rohtasgarh, strengthening Bihar’s heritage tourism circuit and local economy.
