Patna: Passengers at Patna Junction faced significant disruption on Monday as 32 trains were delayed due to adverse weather conditions and operational challenges. Long queues formed on platforms as travellers struggled with the cold and uncertainty, with many reporting missed connections and disrupted onward journeys.
The Jaynagar Puja Special was the worst affected, arriving over seven hours late, while the Kumbh Express reached Patna more than six hours behind schedule. Other notable delays included the Amrit Bharat Express (2 hours 32 minutes), Kota-Patna Express (2 hours 20 minutes), and Islampur-Hatia Express (3 hours). Shorter delays of around one hour affected services such as the Danapur Intercity Express, Amritsar-Howrah Mail, and Vibhuti Express.
Railway officials attributed the delays to dense fog in northern India and congestion along key sections of the network. The persistent disruptions resulted in overcrowding on platforms, leaving many passengers without seating or access to basic facilities.
The railways have urged travellers to check train statuses before travelling, while passengers have called for clearer communication and improved management to minimise inconvenience during such delays.
