Patna: The Patna Zoo has begun preparations for New Year’s Day by opening online ticket booking from December 25 and announcing temporary price rises for January 1, when large crowds are expected.
The zoo administration said entry fees on New Year’s Day would be up to three times higher than usual. Adult tickets will cost Rs 150, up from Rs 50, while tickets for children aged five to 12 will rise to Rs 60 from Rs 20. The higher rates will apply only on January 1, with normal prices resuming thereafter.
To manage the annual surge in visitors, the zoo will increase the number of ticket counters from four on regular days to 14 on New Year’s Day. Additional staff will also be deployed at entry and exit points.
Hemant Patil, the zoo’s director, said advance and online booking would help reduce congestion at the gates and make entry smoother for visitors. He added that extra personnel would be on duty to maintain order, alongside special arrangements for parking and crowd control.
New Year’s Day price increases have also been announced at several major parks across Patna. Revised rates will apply at 14 parks in total, including Shivaji Park, Punaichak Park and SK Puri Children’s Park.
