Patna: Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court on Wednesday, with Bihar governor Arif Mohammad Khan administering the oath of office and secrecy at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Patna.
The swearing-in was attended by chief minister Nitish Kumar and other senior officials of the state government and the judiciary.

Justice Sahoo’s appointment follows a recent recommendation by the Supreme Court collegium, which proposed his elevation from the Odisha High Court to head the Patna High Court. Acting on the recommendation, the Union law ministry subsequently issued a notification confirming his appointment.

Born on June 5, 1964 Justice Sahoo completed his matriculation from Nuabazar High School in Cuttack and went on to earn his intermediate and bachelor’s degrees in science from Stewart Science College. He later obtained postgraduate degrees in English and Odia from Utkal University before completing his law degree at Cuttack Law College.
He enrolled as an advocate with the Odisha State Bar Council on November 26, 1989 and was appointed a judge of the Odisha High Court on July 2, 2014.
