Patna: The Bihar government has carried out a sweeping reshuffle of the police establishment, transferring 71 IPS officers across the state.
The latest round of postings comes shortly after the transfer of 22 IAS officers earlier in the day, underlining the scale of the reorganisation underway in the state administration.
Under the new orders, Santosh Kumar has been appointed superintendent of police (SP) of Kishanganj, while Kantesh Kumar Mishra takes charge as senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Muzaffarpur. Jitendra Kumar has been posted as SP of Araria.

Several other key districts and specialised units have also seen changes. Vinay Tiwari has been made SP of Gopalganj, Hridaykant has been appointed SP of the Anti-Terrorism Squad, and Sushil Kumar takes over as SSP of Gaya. Anant Kumar has been posted as railway SP, while Pramod Kumar Yadav becomes SSP of Bhagalpur and Vineet Kumar SSP of Saran.
In Patna, Sagar Kumar has been assigned the role of traffic SP, a position that carries significant responsibility in the state capital. Other notable postings include Puran Kumar Jha as SP of Siwan, Navjot Simi as SP of Arwal, Ramanand Kaushal as SP of Bagaha, Awadhesh Dixit as SP of Lakhisarai and Shubhank Mishra as SP of Sheohar.
The government has not indicated whether further changes are expected, but the back-to-back transfers of IAS and IPS officers suggest a period of sustained bureaucratic reorganisation in Bihar.
