Sitamarhi: Sitamarhi district is making extensive preparations for the visit of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, who is scheduled to arrive on January 19 as part of his Samriddhi Yatra. In view of the high-level visit, the district police administration has taken a strict step by cancelling all types of sanctioned leave for police officers and personnel with immediate effect. Superintendent of police Amit Ranjan said the decision was taken due to limited security manpower and the need to maintain law and order during the chief minister’s programme.
All police officials have been instructed to remain present at their respective headquarters during this period. Leave will be allowed only in special or emergency situations and only after permission from the competent authority. The order has created heightened activity within the police department, as security arrangements are being reviewed and finalised at multiple levels to avoid any lapse during the visit.
During his tour, the chief minister will visit Sitamarhi and Belsand, where he will inaugurate a newly constructed high-level RCC bridge at Chandoli Ghat on the Minapur–Belsand road over the Bagmati River. He will also inspect ongoing work related to the strengthening, protection and blacktopping of the left embankment of the Bagmati River, which is considered an important project for flood management and regional connectivity. Later, Nitish Kumar will visit Hitnarayan High School in Chandoli, where he will lay foundation stones and inaugurate several development schemes in the district.
The district administration has been closely monitoring preparations for the event. District magistrate Richi Pandey, along with senior administrative officials, recently inspected the bridge site and the high school premises. Instructions were issued regarding security arrangements, crowd control and the setting up of departmental stalls. Special focus is being given to stalls run by Jeevika women’s self-help groups, as the chief minister is expected to interact with them and take feedback on government welfare schemes.
Officials from the information and public relations department have also been directed to select suitable locations for hoardings and posters related to government programmes. The administration has been told to complete all preparations well before the scheduled date. After interacting with beneficiaries and reviewing development work, the chief minister will hold a meeting with district officials at the collectorate in the evening to review progress and discuss future plans based on feedback received during the visit.
