Siwan: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed a series of development schemes in Siwan district as part of his ongoing Samriddhi Yatra, announcing projects worth Rs 202 crore and urging officials to expedite their implementation.
During his visit, CM laid the foundation stones for 40 new schemes valued at Rs 157 crore and inaugurated 31 completed projects worth Rs 45 crore at the Government Medical College in Mairwa. The initiatives cover a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, health, and culture.
The Chief Minister also inspected stalls set up by various government departments showcasing ongoing welfare and development programmes in the district. Symbolic checks and sanction certificates were distributed to beneficiaries, including Rs 9.9 lakh to Suryansh FPO for an oil processing unit, Rs 8 lakh to Mukesh Kumar for a farm machinery bank, and Rs 89,750 to Dharmendra Ram for a mushroom cultivation unit. Twenty-three women agricultural workers, or Krishi Sakhis, received government incentives of Rs 5,000 per month for promoting natural farming across 11 blocks in Siwan.
He reviewed key infrastructure projects under construction, including the widening and strengthening of the Siwan–Andar road, the Pachrukhi Bypass, and the Bhantapokhar–Jiradei road via Jamapur Bazaar. Work is also underway on a road overbridge to replace Level Crossing No. 91 on State Highway 89, the Mairwa Grid Substation in Nautan block, and approach roads to high-level bridges over the Ghaghra river connecting Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister further inspected beautification efforts at Panchmandira Pokhra in Siwan and launched a fish seed stocking programme under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali (Water–Life–Greenery) campaign.
The visit was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Mangal Pandey, senior bureaucrats, and district officials, including the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police, and the District Magistrate.
