Patna: Bihar’s weather remains largely normal across most districts, but the Meteorological Department has forecast rain in 11 districts due to the impact of a western disturbance. Cloudy conditions are also expected over Patna and some parts of south Bihar, even as daytime temperatures continue to rise slightly.
On Sunday morning, dense fog was reported in five districts, including Bettiah, Bagaha and Gopalganj, where visibility dropped to around 100 metres. Light cold conditions persist across the state due to weak north-westerly winds.
According to the weather department, there will be no significant increase in cold conditions over the next five days. However, minor fluctuations in night temperatures are likely. In the last 24 hours, Bhagalpur recorded the lowest temperature in the state at around 7 degrees Celsius.
Two trains passing through Patna were delayed due to prevailing conditions. Train No. 12304 Purva Express is running 46 minutes late, while Train No. 13287 South Bihar Express is delayed by 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Meteorological officials said there is currently no strong western disturbance active over north India, which is why Bihar is not witnessing any major change in weather. The weakening of north-westerly cold winds has limited the intensity of cold. As a result, temperatures are rising during the day, while mild cold is being felt during the night and early morning hours.
Scientists added that similar conditions are expected to continue over the next few days. Low moisture levels in the atmosphere are also restricting the spread of fog to only limited areas.
In Bhojpur, fog was seen on Friday morning. In the capital Patna, the weather is expected to remain normal with light sunshine during the day, leading to a rise in temperature. Mild cold will continue to be felt in the morning and evening, while the impact of fog will remain light and localised. Patna’s minimum temperature was recorded at 13.0 degrees Celsius.
