Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to chair an important cabinet meeting today as the state legislative assembly continues its budget session. The meeting, scheduled for 5 PM at the Samvad Hall on Deshratna Marg, comes at a crucial time for the government’s policy agenda.
Officials have indicated that a cabinet briefing will follow at 6 PM in the IPRD hall. However, if legislative proceedings are still underway, the briefing will take place immediately after the conclusion of the house session.
Sources suggest the meeting may see discussions on several significant proposals and policy decisions, particularly in light of the ongoing budget session. Observers say it could set the tone for the government’s next steps on financial and administrative matters.
Earlier Cabinet Decisions
This marks the second cabinet gathering within the past week. Bihar government approved 32 agendas, including a major initiative aimed at women’s employment. Under this scheme, Rs 2 lakh will be provided to eligible women in two installments based on performance.
In addition, scholarships for approximately 27 lakh students were doubled, and the recruitment of 17,000 retired police personnel was approved. The cabinet also increased the honorarium for Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) personnel.
The outcomes of today’s meeting are expected to offer further clarity on Bihar’s policy direction during the budget session.
