Patna: On February 6, AIIMS Patna organised a Basic Life Support (BLS) awareness and training programme at Amity University in Patna. The aim of the programme was to teach students and faculty members how to act quickly and correctly during medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, choking, or sudden collapse. The event focused on spreading simple but powerful life-saving knowledge that can help protect lives both on and off the campus.
The training session was conducted by Dr Divendu Bhushan, head of the department of emergency medicine at AIIMS Patna, under the guidance of executive director Prof (Brig) Dr Raju Agarwal and medical superintendent Dr Anup Kumar. The team explained how early recognition of danger signs and fast action can prevent serious harm. Participants were taught the basics of emergency response, including how to check for breathing, call for help, and begin chest compressions until professional medical care arrives.
The programme was inaugurated by Amity University’s vice-chancellor, Dr Vivekanand Pandey, who spoke about the importance of BLS awareness for students and staff. He appreciated AIIMS Patna for taking this step towards public health education and said such initiatives prepare young people to face real-life emergencies with confidence. He also encouraged students to share this knowledge with their families and communities.
Students and teachers took part actively in the hands-on training and practical demonstrations. Many of them said the session helped them understand how small and timely actions can make a big difference in saving lives. The interactive nature of the programme made learning easy and engaging. AIIMS Patna stated that it will continue to organise similar awareness programmes to build a safer and more prepared society.
