Patna: Several districts in Bihar are likely to witness fog during early morning and late evening hours, while bright sunshine is expected during the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather department has indicated that there is no significant fluctuation in temperature expected over the next few days.
At present, the minimum temperature across the state is ranging between 8°C and 16°C, while the maximum temperature is hovering between 28°C and 32°C. Over the past 24 hours, the minimum temperature in most parts of the state remained around 10°C. A few districts reported morning and evening fog, although the weather in Patna remained clear. The capital experienced sunny conditions during the day followed by a mildly cool evening.
Meteorologists have described the current weather pattern as having a “dual nature,” with mild chill during morning and evening hours and comparatively warm conditions in the daytime due to strong sunlight.
Reason Behind Morning Fog
Weather scientists said that the prevailing conditions in the plains of North India, including Bihar, are caused by cold winds descending from the Himalayan region combined with clear skies. The drop in temperature at night, along with moisture in the air, leads to the formation of fog in the early morning hours.
In some areas, cold winds and light rainfall recorded earlier have also helped maintain balanced temperatures. The weather department noted that fog is more prominent in North Bihar during the morning, but as the sun rises, temperatures gradually increase and visibility improves.
How Long Will This Weather Continue?
According to the IMD, there will be no major change in temperature in the coming days. A slight rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures may be recorded gradually. However, morning fog is expected to persist for now in several districts. The pattern of foggy mornings followed by clear and sunny afternoons is likely to continue.
Weather experts said the intensity of winter is gradually decreasing and the overall weather conditions across the state are becoming stable. While fog forms due to cold winds and moisture, the bright sunshine during the day prevents a sharp increase in cold conditions. The IMD has also clarified that there are currently no indications of a cold wave or any severe weather event in Bihar.
Impact on Crops
Agriculture experts have termed the present weather conditions as generally favourable for rabi crops such as wheat, mustard and gram. Mild morning moisture is considered beneficial for crops, and the absence of dense fog or frost reduces the risk of damage. Continued sunshine during the day is expected to support better crop growth.
Patna Forecast
In Patna, light to moderate fog is likely during morning hours, followed by bright sunshine during the day. The minimum temperature is expected to remain between 10°C and 12°C, while the maximum temperature is likely to stay within the normal range. A gradual rise in temperature may be observed in the coming days.
