Patna: The Bihar government has announced a major reshuffle in the police department, bringing promotions and new responsibilities for several senior officers. The Home Department has promoted ten Bihar Police Service officers under a temporary officiating executive arrangement. The decision was issued through a formal notification by the Reserve Branch and is being seen as a step to strengthen the police system and improve administration across the state.
As part of this reshuffle, four Senior Deputy Superintendents of Police have been promoted to the rank of Additional Superintendents of Police (ASP). Along with this, six Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) have been given acting charge as Senior DSPs. Officials said these promotions are meant to fill important posts and ensure smooth functioning in different districts until regular appointments are made.
According to departmental details, DSPs Ramdular Prasad, Rahul Singh, Prakash Kumar, Amit Kumar, Saroj Kumar Sah and Rajiv Kumar have now been promoted as Senior DSPs. At the same time, Senior DSPs Rajkumar Sah, Sanjeet Kumar Prabhat, Sumit Kumar and Krishna Murari Prasad have been given the acting charge of Additional Superintendent of Police. These officers will now handle greater responsibilities related to law and order, crime control and public safety.
In another important decision, the state government has also nominated its members to the Eastern Zonal Council. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary will represent Bihar in the council. The Chief Secretary of the state and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department have been appointed as advisors. The Special Branch of the Home Department issued the notification, showing the government’s focus on stronger regional cooperation along with internal administrative reforms.
