Gaya: Authorities have uncovered a counterfeit drug manufacturing unit in Manpur, Gaya, seizing fake medicines, injections and raw materials valued at approximately Rs 27 lakh, officials said. The raid was carried out by a joint team comprising district drug administration officials and the Delhi Police, following a multi-day surveillance operation. One suspect, identified as Arun Kumar, has been arrested in connection with the case.
Officials said the illegal unit was operating near Bhusunda, close to Indian Public School, under the name Live Care Science Private Limited. The facility was reportedly registered in the name of Mamta Devi. Investigators believe the factory had been producing counterfeit pharmaceutical products for distribution in local and possibly wider markets.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Assistant Drug Controller Vijay Kumar and State Drug Controller Nityanand Kislay. Authorities said intelligence inputs and confidential monitoring over three days helped confirm the illegal activity, prompting the coordinated enforcement action.
During the raid, officials recovered powders, tablets and packaging materials linked to suspected counterfeit drugs, including Tramadol and Dilona. Arun Kumar, a resident of Pataliputra Colony in Patna, was arrested in Gaya and taken into custody by the Delhi Police for further questioning.
Officials warned that the production and circulation of counterfeit medicines pose a serious risk to public health, as such drugs may be ineffective or harmful. Investigators said efforts are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the operation and trace the supply network linked to the illegal factory.
Members of the enforcement team included drug inspectors Ish Bhardwaj, Shashibhushan Kumar, Sunil Kumar and Wasim Akhtar, along with personnel from the Delhi Police Crime Branch, including Sub-Inspector Vikas Deep and Assistant Sub-Inspector Sambhar Yadav. Authorities said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
