Buxar: Buxar railway station is set to undergo a major transformation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with authorities planning a Rs 130 crore redevelopment to give the facility an airport-like appearance and modern passenger amenities. The project is part of a nationwide initiative to upgrade railway infrastructure and improve travel experience across key stations.
Officials confirmed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been completed and submitted to the Railway Board for approval. Once sanctioned, the redevelopment is expected to benefit not only passengers from Buxar but also commuters from nearby towns including Chausa, Raghunathpur, Dildarnagar, and Dumraon, who rely heavily on the station for regional and long-distance travel.
According to the proposed plan, the station will feature a modern architectural design inspired by airport terminals, while also incorporating elements reflecting the cultural and historical identity of the region. The redevelopment aims to create a more comfortable, visually appealing, and efficient environment for passengers, aligning the station with contemporary transport infrastructure standards.
The project will include expanded platforms to manage growing passenger traffic and the construction of a modern waiting hall equipped with improved seating and amenities. Authorities also plan to upgrade the existing foot overbridge to improve passenger movement and safety. CCTV cameras and a dedicated control room will be installed to strengthen surveillance and ensure better operational management.
Buxar, known for its religious and historical significance and often associated with Sage Vishwamitra, attracts a steady number of visitors throughout the year. Officials believe the upgraded station will enhance connectivity and accessibility, helping boost tourism and creating employment opportunities during construction and beyond. The redevelopment is also expected to contribute to the local economy by supporting increased travel and regional development.
