Patna: Bihar clinched the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy Plate title with a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Sikkim in the final at Barabati Stadium, completing the tournament unbeaten.
The competition, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, concluded on Monday with a disciplined all-round display from Bihar, who chased down a modest target of 136 in 35 overs.
Sikkim, put in to bat after Bihar won the toss and elected to field, were bowled out for 135 in 46.5 overs. Samayita top-scored with 28, while Parimala made 20 and Tabitha Subba remained unbeaten on 21. The innings struggled to gather momentum as Bihar’s bowlers applied consistent pressure and kept the scoring rate in check.
Khushboo C Kumari was the standout performer, claiming 5 for 33 in 8.5 overs and dismantling the middle and lower order. Rachna Singh and Apurva Kumari supported her with two wickets apiece, ensuring Sikkim never recovered from regular setbacks.
In reply, Bihar began cautiously before seizing control through a 92-run partnership between captain Pragati Singh and Vaidehi Yadav. Yadav anchored the chase with an unbeaten 54, while Singh contributed 45, guiding the side towards the target without alarm. Bihar reached 139 for 3 to seal the win with 15 overs to spare.
Khushboo C Kumari was named player of the match for her five-wicket haul, while Apurva Kumari earned player of the series honours for her consistent performances throughout the campaign.
The unbeaten run underlined Bihar’s dominance in the Plate division, reflecting what officials described as a combination of preparation, discipline and collective effort. Harsh Vardhan, president of the Bihar Cricket Association, said the title was the result of sustained hard work and mental strength, adding that the achievement marked a positive step for women’s cricket in the state.
Ziaul Arfin, the association’s secretary, congratulated the players and support staff, saying their dedication had laid the foundation for success and pledging continued institutional support to develop the women’s game further.
