Patna: Residents near Patna’s Exhibition Road have raised concern over stray dogs and monkeys in their locality, particularly at Pushp Vihar Apartment, after a recent dog bite incident unsettled families.
Mehna Nawal, who lives at Pushp Vihar Apartment near Exhibition Road, said, “Stray dogs move in groups inside our lane. Recently, they bit our security guard, and that incident worried everyone here. Along with this, monkeys keep snatching fruits and vegetables and sometimes enter homes through windows and balconies. Families feel tense because these incidents happen suddenly.”
Residents say monkeys frequently enter the residential compound and climb onto balconies and window grills, creating panic. Many families say they remain cautious while stepping out and want authorities to take notice of the repeated disturbance.
Priya Saurav, Public Relation Officer, Patna Smart City Limited, said “We sterilise stray dogs and administer anti-rabies vaccines before releasing them back into the same area as per guidelines. This helps control population and reduce health risks,”. She added that officials have not received a formal complaint from the specific locality but teams are working to vaccinate as many stray dogs as possible. Teams regularly conduct such drives in different parts of the city and also spread awareness among residents about the process.
For now, families at Pushp Vihar Apartment say they are waiting for on-ground action, hoping authorities will respond quickly before another incident takes place.
